Watch the Trailer for Carrie Fisher's Final Film 'Wonderwell'

Seven years after her passing, Carrie Fisher's final film is being released. In Wonderwell, Fisher stars as Hazel, an "extravagant and powerful witch of the forest" who accompanies a young girl on a magical adventure. The actress completed filming on the movie only weeks before her death in 2016. (Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which Fisher wrapped earlier in 2016, was released in 2017, although she also appeared posthumously in 2019's The Rise of Skywalker via unused footage from 2015's The Force Awakens.)

Wonderwell follows 12-year-old Violet (newcomer Kiera Milward) as she accompanies her model sister to an Italian village for a photoshoot. When Violet wanders into the nearby forest, she is transported to a fantastical fairy-tale world, which is where she meets Hazel. "Life can be just as magical as this garden," Fisher's kindly witch says in the trailer, "only it's a lot more fun." Rita Ora co-stars as a villainous fashion designer named Yana.

Director Vlad Marsavin said in a statement, "The journey we have taken as filmmakers with this movie has been as perilous as that of the movie itself... The visual effects on a movie of this magnitude takes time, but we were challenged with COVID lockdowns and of course the passing of our wonderful Carrie Fisher. Now is the perfect time to share her magical on-screen moments as Hazel."
