Two years after the start of the coronavirus pandemic, audiences are ready for adventure – and this month’s new movie releases are offering that in spades.

From anticipated action films like The Batman to star-studded quests like The Adam Project, Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre and The Lost City, there’s a movie for everyone.

And if adventure isn’t what the doctor ordered, dramas like The Outfit might be – or cuddle up with the family for Disney’s Turning Red or Cheaper By the Dozen.

Against The Ice

Game of Thrones’ Nikolaj Coster-Waldau co-wrote and stars in Against the Ice, a survival film based on the true story of Denmark's 1909 polar expedition. When a prior attempt doesn’t go to plan, Captain Ejnar Mikkelsen (Waldau) sets off on a dangerous trek to recover the bodies and the discoveries of past explorers, bringing along mechanic Iver Iversen (Joe Cole) as his partner. Fellow Game of Thrones alum Charles Dance also co-stars in the thriller, alongside Heida Reed.

Against the Ice will be available to stream on Netflix starting March 2.

The Batman

The new Batman film franchise reboot stars Robert Pattinson as a reclusive and grungy Bruce Wayne, before he becomes the experienced crime fighter and caped crusader.. This gritty superhero neo-noir, written by Matt Reeves and Peter Craig and directed by Reeves, includes a cast of DC characters, including Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler and Colin Farrell as the Riddler. Andy Serkis plays Alfred Pennyworth and Jeffrey Wright stars as James Gordon, who is still just a Gotham City Police Department lieutenant when we meet him in this film.

The Batman hits theaters on March 4.

After Yang

When Yang – a lifelike android and family’s beloved companion – starts malfunctioning, a father (Colin Farrell) searches for a way to repair it. Along the way, he and his family are confronted with questions of love, loss and how to reconnect with one another. After Yang, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last year before having its North American premiere at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, was written and directed by Kogonada. The film co-stars Jodie Turner-Smith, Justin H. Min, Malea Emma Tjandrawidjaja and Haley Lu Richardson.

After Yang hits limited theaters on March 4, and will be available to stream on Showtime the same day.

Lucy and Desi

Amy Poehler directs this documentary about Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, which also premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. The film explores the lives of the legendary couple, their relationship and the impact they had on Hollywood. Poehler had access to hours of tapes recorded by Ball and Arnaz and she uses their own voices to tell their story. The doc also features interviews with their daughter Lucie Arnaz, son Desi Arnaz Jr., Norman Lear, Carol Burnett and Bette Midler.

Lucy and Desi will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video starting March 4.

Fresh

The horrors of modern dating take center stage in Fresh, a comedy thriller starring Daisy Edgar-Jones as a young woman battling to survive the unusual appetite of her new love interest (Sebastian Stan). The movie was directed by Mimi Cave in her directorial debut, from a screenplay penned by Lauryn Kahn.

Fresh will be available to stream on Hulu starting March 4.

The Adam Project

Ryan Reynolds, who was also one of the producers, stars in The Adam Project as Adam Reed, a time-traveling fighter pilot who accidentally crash-lands in 2022, and must team up with his 12-year-old self (Walker Scobell) to save the future. The sci-fi film, directed by Shawn Levy, and written by Jonathan Tropper, T.S. Nowlin, Jennifer Flackett and Mark Levin, co-stars Jennifer Garner, Zoe Saldana, Mark Ruffalo, Catherine Keener and Alex Mallari Jr.

The Adam Project will be available to stream on Netflix starting March 11.

Turning Red

This coming-of-age animated film from Disney and Pixar centers on Meilin "Mei" Lee, a 13-year-old girl who suddenly “poofs” into a giant red panda whenever she gets excited or stressed, thanks to her ancestors' shared history with the species. Rosalie Chiang, Sandra Oh, Ava Morse, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Hyein Park, Orion Lee, Wai Ching Ho and James Hong provide the voices for the movie, which is the very first Pixar film to have been solely directed by a woman (Domee Shi).

Turning Red will be available to stream on Disney+ starting March 11.

Umma

Sandra Oh stars in Umma as Amanda, a Korean immigrant living with her daughter on a rural farm in America, without modern technology. Things take a terrifying turn when Amanda receives the remains of her estranged mother, unleashing a vicious spirit intent on taking her body for itself. The supernatural horror film, written and directed by Iris K. Shim, also stars Fivel Stewart, Dermot Mulroney, Odeya Rush, MeeWha Alana Lee and Tom Yi.

Umma hits theaters on March 18.

Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre

In this action comedy, elite super spy Orson Fortune (Jason Statham) embarks on a mission to prevent a billionaire arms broker (Hugh Grant) from selling deadly new weapons technology. Along for the ride is Orson’s team of top operatives – plus Hollywood's biggest movie star. Aubrey Plaza, Josh Hartnett, Cary Elwes and Bugzy Malone round out the cast of the film, which was directed by Guy Ritchie, from a screenplay by Ritchie, Ivan Atkinson and Marn Davies.

Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre hits theaters on March 18.

The Outfit

The crime drama, starring Mark Rylance, Zoey Deutch, Dylan O'Brien and Johnny Flynn, centers on an English tailor who, after personal tragedy, finds himself operating a small shop in Chicago. It’s there, in a rough part of town, that he makes beautiful clothes for the only people around who can afford them – a family of vicious gangsters. The Outfit marks the directorial debut of Graham Moore, who penned the script with Johnathan McClain.

The Outfit hits theaters on March 18.

Windfall

Academy Award nominee Jesse Plemons stars alongside Jason Segel and Lily Collins in Windfall, a thriller following a robbery gone wrong. Plemons plays an arrogant tech billionaire in the thriller from director Charlie McDowell, while Collins plays his wife, and Segel stars as the would-be robber.

Windfall will be available to stream on Netflix starting March 18.

Deep Water

Based on the 1957 novel of the same name by Patricia Highsmith, Deep Water centers on married couple Vic and Melinda (Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas), whose loveless relationship turns into deadly mind games and the disappearance of Melinda’s lovers. Tracy Letts, Rachel Blanchard and Lil Rel Howery star in supporting roles in the psychological thriller, written by Zach Helm and Sam Levinson. The movie marks director Adrian Lyne’s return to filmmaking following a 20-year absence (the Oscar nominee’s last film was Unfaithful).

Deep Water will be available to stream on Hulu starting March 18.

Cheaper by the Dozen

The beloved 2003 family comedy starring Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt gets an update 20 years later, this time with Zach Braff and Gabrielle Union in the parental roles. Life hasn’t gotten any easier for the Bakers, who try to navigate a family business, a hectic home life, and the raucous adventures of their blended family of 12.

Cheaper by the Dozen will be available to stream on Disney+ starting March 18.

The Lost City

Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum, Daniel Radcliffe and Brad Pitt star in this action comedy from brothers Aaron Nee and Adam Nee. While on tour promoting her new book, reclusive author Loretta Sage (Bullock) gets kidnapped by an eccentric billionaire (Radcliffe), who hopes she can lead him to an ancient lost treasure from her latest story. Attempting to prove he’s a hero in real life too, the handsome cover model of Loretta’s books (Tatum), sets off to rescue her – and thus begins a jungle adventure.

The Lost City hits theaters on March 25.

Everything Everywhere All at Once

An insane adventure kicks off in Everything Everywhere All at Once when an aging Chinese immigrant, Evelyn Wang (Michelle Yeoh), discovers she alone can save the world by exploring other universes – which connect to the lives she could have led. The sci-fi action comedy, written and directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, co-stars Ke Huy Quan, Stephanie Hsu, Jenny Slate, Harry Shum Jr., James Hong and Jamie Lee Curtis.

Everything Everywhere All at Once hits limited theaters on March 25.
