Hollywood moves fast. By Monday morning—not 24 hours after it won the Oscar for Best International Film—remake rights to Thomas Vinterberg’s Another Round had been snatched up in an auction. Among the buyers? Leonardo DiCaprio. His production company Appian Way will be a key player in the English-language remake of the Danish film, which makes sense given that DiCaprio is also in talks to star in the movie. If that happens, he’ll have the chance to inhabit the main character’s complex, booze-heavy midlife crisis as fully as Mads Mikkelsen did in the original. And if DiCaprio’s Oscar-nominated performance in The Wolf of Wall Street is any indication, it’s an assignment we’re sure he can pull off.

This Another Round remake is not the only upcoming movie with connections to last weekend’s Oscars. A web of Oscar honorees have paired up and put projects on the calendar for this year or next. Here are just a few of those collaborations we recommend having on your moviegoing radar:
Jordan Peele knows how to cast a movie. Two of the three announced actors in his next (still untitled) film were at this year’s Oscars: Best Supporting Actor winner Daniel Kaluuya (a familiar face for Peele after their iconic 2017 horror gem, Get Out) and Best Lead Actor nominee Steven Yeun. The genre for the 2022 release hasn’t yet been confirmed, but we wouldn’t be angry if Peele gave us nightmares one more time.
Florian Zeller won the Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar this year for masterfully reconfiguring his own play, The Father, for the screen. Can he do the same thing again? He’ll try with The Son (which, despite the similar familial title, has nothing to do with the plot of The Father). Laura Dern—Oscar perennial, presenter and executive producer of this year’s Animated Short Film winner If Anything Happens I Love You—has been cast in the film as the titular son’s mother.
12 Years a Slave, Birdman, The Shape of Water and now Nomadland … Searchlight Pictures has had much success going for Oscar gold in recent years. The fact that Frances McDormand (who just added two more Oscars to her collection on Sunday) also stars in one of the studio’s next releases means that luck might continue. In Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch, she leads an astonishing ensemble cast that also includes Oscar-honored actors Adrien Brody, Timothée Chalamet, Willem Dafoe, Anjelica Huston, Bill Murray, Saoirse Ronan, Tilda Swinton, Benicio del Toro and Christoph Waltz. The long-anticipated anthology film is expected to debut later this year.
After winning Oscars for Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, hairstylist Jamika Wilson and makeup artist Sergio Lopez-Rivera are wasting no time getting back to work with Viola Davis. For the upcoming Showtime series The First Lady, they’ll help the actress get into character as none other than Michelle Obama.
