Oscars 2022: Listen to the Original Score Nominees

No movie is complete without the music, and this year's Best Original Score nominees celebrate the compositions that moved us, thrilled us, and a few of which left us dancing in the aisles.

The field – which comprises nominees Don’t Look Up, Dune, Encanto, Parallel Mothers and The Power of the Dog – includes soundtracks from Oscar veterans and newcomers alike, with the winner to be announced during the 94th Academy Awards on Sunday, March 27.

Don't Look Up

Composer Nicholas Britell is behind Don't Look Up's jazzy score. This is his third Original Score nomination, previously recognized for Moonlight (2016) and If Beale Street Could Talk (2018).

Dune

When adapting an epic, you enlist an epic composer like Hans Zimmer. He now has 12 career nominations and won the Best Original Score Oscar in 1995 for The Lion King.

Encanto

Lin-Manuel Miranda is behind "We Don't Talk About Bruno" and the other musical numbers, but Encanto's score comes courtesy of Germaine Franco. She is a first-time Oscar nominee.

Parallel Mothers

Alberto Iglesias reunited with Pedro Almodóvar for the director's latest and earned his fourth Oscar nomination. Iglesias' most recent recognition was for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy in 2012.

The Power of the Dog

This year alone, Jonny Greenwood scored The Power of the Dog, Spencer and Licorice Pizza, with the former netting him his second Oscar nomination. (He was previously nominated for Phantom Thread in 2018.)
