Bradley Cooper is composer Leonard Bernstein in the official trailer for Maestro.

Cooper (a nine-time Oscar-nominated actor, producer, and screenwriter) portrays Bernstein (a two-time Tony Award winner, 16-time Grammy winner and Oscar-nominated composer) in the biopic, which spans 30 years of Bernstein's life. Maestro is also a love story, with Oscar nominee Carey Mulligan playing his wife, the actress and activist Felicia Montealegre.

The film follows Leonard and Felicia's relationship from their first meeting in 1946, through a 25-year marriage, and the birth of three children. Still, Maestro is being billed less as a standard biopic, and instead as "a love letter to life and art." Matt Bomer, Maya Hawke, Sarah Silverman, Josh Hamilton, and Gideon Glick co-star.

Maestro marks Cooper's follow-up to his Oscar-winning directorial debut, 2018's A Star Is Born. (Which took home Best Original Song for "Shallow.") Cooper was tapped to helm the project by none other than Steven Spielberg, who was previously set to direct Bernstein's biopic and now serves as one of Maestro's producers, alongside Martin Scorsese, Fred Berner, Amy Durning, Kristie Macosko Krieger, and Cooper himself.

In addition to directing, producing, and starring in the film, Cooper also co-wrote the screenplay with Oscar-winning scribe Josh Singer (Spotlight). Maestro reunites the director with two-time Oscar nominated cinematographer Matthew Libatique (Black Swan and A Star Is Born) and features prosthetic work by legendary, Oscar-winning makeup artist Kazu Hiro (Darkest Hour, Bombshell).

Following its premiere at the Venice International Film Festival, Maestro opens in select theaters on Nov. 22, before streaming on Netflix starting Dec. 20. Watch the trailer below.
