Marvel revealed the title of the next Avengers movie — Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, arriving in 2025 — but viewers will first meet the titular dynast, Kang the Conqueror, in this year's Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania.
The Ant-Man threequel marks the official kickoff to Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as Scott Lang/Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) and Hope Van Dyne/Wasp (Evangeline Lilly), along with Scott's daughter Cassie (Kathryn Newton), Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), and Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer), are inadvertently sucked into the Quantum Realm.
There, the family of superheroes finally comes face-to-face with Jonathan Majors' Kang, who is hailed as "the MCU's most powerful villain to date." (Majors made his MCU debut in season 1 of Loki on Disney+, playing an ominous Kang variant called He Who Remains.) "Let me make this easy for you: You will bring me what I need," Kang warns Ant-Man, "or everything you call a life will end."
Like the first two Ant-Man movies, Quantumania hails from director Peyton Reed. The script was written by Jeff Loveness (who will next pen Avengers: The Kang Dynasty). The cast also includes David Dastmalchian as Veb, Katy O'Brian as Jentorra, William Jackson Harper as Quaz, and Bill Murray as Lord Krylar, the governor of Axia, a strange and cushy community within the Quantum Realm.
Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania hits theaters on Feb. 17, 2023. Watch the trailer below.
