With the Venice Film Festival well underway halfway around the world in Lido, Italy, and Telluride coming to a close following a weekend of screenings in Colorado, festival season continues in Hollywood North with the 47th Toronto International Film Festival.
After two years of socially distanced and virtual events, TIFF is back in person with one of its biggest slates in recent memory, boasting the fest's traditional mix of crowd-pleasers and the latest auteur offerings. Over 11 days of screenings, the festival will launch some of the most-anticipated movies of the year and serve as the latest stop for hightlights from earlier festivals.
"We're excited to welcome some of the most celebrated figures in movies back to Toronto to present their Gala and Special Presentation films," CEO Cameron Bailey said in a statement. "With stories that span six continents and feature performances you just have to see, this lineup delivers the rich experiences we wait all year for. Cinema is alive. Red carpets are back. And the best audience in the world awaits them in Toronto."

Damien Chazelle, Viola Davis and The Woman King director Gina Prince-Bythewood, Korean filmmakers Lee Jung-jae and Jung Woo-sung, Eddie Redmayne, and Taylor Swift.
As part of the festival's Industry Conference, Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy President Janet Yang will speak during the "Academy 365" panel, which includes the following programming details:
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is a 95-year-old organization that has long been known for the Oscars, often called 'Hollywood’s biggest night.' But what goes on the other 364 days of the year? In this panel, key leadership shares how the Academy engages its membership of more than 10,000 members on a year-round basis and leads industry initiatives that celebrate the history of film, amplifies its global community of artists, and advocates for increased representation across the industry.
